Texas Regional Bank (TRB) joined volunteers from across Denton County and the Dallas–Fort Worth area for the Rise Against Hunger Community Packathon, held mid-July at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church in Flower Mound.
The two-day event brought volunteers together to pack 300,000 meals to be sent to the Republic of Congo to feed school children, where one box of meals will feed a child for an entire school year. The packathon also included a canned-food drive benefiting Heart of the City in Lewisville and Freedom Food Pantry of Denton Freedom House.
The event was very well organized and there was a real sense of purpose in the room. I was proud of our team, who worked alongside neighbors from throughout the community in support of children facing hunger. It was an energizing day and a meaningful first experience with Rise Against Hunger. – Duke York, Region President, DFW-West
