Our Story

About TRB

Rooted in local purpose, Texas Regional Bank was born in 2010 when a group of community-driven leaders came together to revive regional banking and support growing Texas economies. Today, with deep ties across Texas, TRB continues to thrive—grounded in relationship banking and energized by the People You Know.

Business and community leaders Michael Scaief, Bobby Farris, Tudor Uhlhorn, and Bill Elliff set out to build a regional banking franchise rooted in community success. Originally planning to launch a new bank in the Rio Grande Valley, the team shifted strategy—choosing instead to acquire an existing institution. They formed Texas State Bankshares, Inc. (TSBI) as the bank’s holding company and submitted a revised business plan to regulators in September 2009.
