The Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce has named John Wells as its 2024 Volunteer of the Year. This prestigious award, selected by the Chamber President and Board of Directors, recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to serving the Fredericksburg community. Wells was honored at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet, celebrating his significant contributions to local organizations and initiatives.
A Commitment to Service
Over the past year alone, Wells has contributed nearly 200 hours of volunteer service in the Fredericksburg community. His efforts extend across numerous organizations, including Fredericksburg ISD, Young Life of Fredericksburg, the Grace Center of Fredericksburg, and the Fredericksburg Parks Foundation. Whether mentoring students, delivering financial literacy presentations, or assisting with Chamber-led initiatives such as the annual banquet, State of the Burg, and the iOpener Leadership Program at Fredericksburg High School, Wells has made a meaningful impact throughout the community.
“Service is one of the most important things you can do—not for recognition, but because it’s the right thing to do,” Wells said, emphasizing the value of community involvement. “Being busy is never an excuse. We need young people to step up, get involved, and become the new face of Fredericksburg. It’s time to stop just talking about doing things—get out there and do them.”
