At Texas Regional Bank (TRB), we strive to serve our community in every market we operate. Community is so vital that it’s one of our six core values.
To see community at TRB, look no further than gameday in Denton. Before every University of North Texas (UNT) home football game, Texas Regional Bank brings their newly renovated smoker trailer and feeds hungry fans.
The tailgating tradition started eight years ago with AccessBank TX, when several bank employees/alums decided to combine their love for UNT football and serving the community. TRB’s tailgating started with a pop-up tent and a small propane grill. However, the tradition took off in 2015 when the bank purchased a 24-foot smoker trailer. Since then, bank volunteers have served hundreds of pounds of BBQ.
Depending on the menu, volunteer work starts 5-8 hours before kickoff when Duke York and his team start preparing food to cook on the smoker. When the food is ready to serve, an additional 5-10 TRB employees arrive to help with food service, chat with community members, and talk football.
The TRB team serves a menu ranging from ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, smoked sausage, and hot dogs to approximately 150-300 people per game. The bankers invite customers throughout the season; however, they’ll feed anyone wearing Mean Green, and even the opposing team’s fans!
The cost? It’s free. Just a way for our bankers to show how much they love their community. Join us before any UNT home game; we’ll be pleased to serve you.
