Texas Regional Bank Adds Mandy Austin as President of Commercial Banking and North Texas Region

January 31, 2024

Harlingen-based Texas Regional Bank (TRB) has hired Mandy Austin as President of North Texas Region and Commercial Banking. In her new role, Austin will be responsible for TRB’s mission to provide exceptional financial services to the community while fostering solid relationships with clients and stakeholders. Her proven track record of growing the region and dedication to community engagement make her an invaluable addition to TRB’s executive team.

“I am thrilled to join the entrepreneurial executive team at Texas Regional Bank and for the opportunity to build their commercial banking platform, which will complement the exceptional community banking franchise that TRB has built over the last decade,” said Austin, “The sophisticated platform, community-focused culture, and innovative mindset that TRB brings to each of its markets align perfectly with the entrepreneurial needs of our fast-growing region.”

With nearly 18 years in the financial services industry, Austin served as the Dallas Market President & CEO for Bank of Texas, a subsidiary of BOK Financial, before joining TRB. During her tenure at Bank of Texas, Austin led the Dallas market’s operational and business development efforts. She oversaw the Corporate Banking group, which served large middle-market companies in the commercial and industrial sectors. Austin also oversaw the development of the subscription line lending and supply chain finance lending specialties during her tenure at Bank of Texas, and she was actively involved in the bank’s expansion into the North Dallas geographic market.

“Texas Regional Bank has a very compelling story for business owners and operators and high net worth individuals in the DFW region, particularly for those with international investments,” said Michael Scaief, Chairman and CEO of TRB. “Given our proximity to the Texas-Mexico border, we are excellent at international private wealth management and international trade. As the near-shoring trend accelerates, our team is exceptionally well positioned to help our clients facilitate transactions and trade in the US/MX corridor.”

The bank has five branch locations across the metroplex in Dallas, Southlake, Denton, Krum, and Fort Worth, with a sixth location under renovation at Lovers Lane and the Dallas North Tollway. The bank also operates two loan production offices in Forney and Fort Worth, with plans for full branch expansions in each location.  Additionally, TRB’s executive team has continued to expand in North Texas by hiring their Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Jacque Kruppa, who resides in the Park Cities.

“We are a bit contrarian in our branch strategy. While others are eliminating branches, we are adding new locations. Our clients need to get to know us; to do that, we need to be accessible in the communities we serve. We want to live our motto of being ‘the people you know,’” said Scaief.

“Texas Regional Bank was founded on the principle of serving the community. This executive team understands that serving the whole community is not just good press; it’s smart business, and that mentality aligns perfectly with my core values,” Austin said.

Austin earned a BBA in finance and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.  Austin serves on the Children’s Medical Center Foundation Board and is actively involved in the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ Women of Tocqueville.  She also serves on the North Texas chapter of the American Cancer Society’s CEOs Against Cancer board and is a member of the Dallas Regional Chamber’s Executive Women’s Roundtable.
