Texas Regional Bank (TRB) recently had the privilege of celebrating the dedicated bus drivers and maintenance staff of Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD) at the SBISD Transportation Appreciation Breakfast. Held just down the road from TRB’s Houston Memorial branch, the event recognized the 250 professionals who ensure the safe transportation of students every day.
The event was made possible through the efforts of Luis Bonilla, Banking Center Operations Specialist, who played a key role in establishing and strengthening TRB’s relationship with SBISD. “Spring Branch ISD is more than a school district—it’s a community that shaped many of us,” said Bonilla. “Being able to give back, support these educators and staff, and find ways to serve the district is an honor. This event is just the beginning of an ongoing relationship that reflects TRB’s values of putting people first.”
With a booth set up for drivers and maintenance staff to enjoy coffee, donuts, and kolaches, TRB showed its appreciation for their commitment to student safety. Recognizing their contributions is just one way the Houston Memorial branch is deepening its engagement with SBISD.
A Growing Partnership with SBISD
As the district’s sole banking partner for its employee portal TRB has been expanding its relationship with SBISD beyond this appreciation event. The bank’s goal is to serve the district in meaningful ways, whether through financial literacy programs, school volunteerism, or support for key initiatives.
“At Texas Regional Bank, we are proud to celebrate the dedication of the bus drivers and maintenance staff who ensure the safety and well-being of Spring Branch ISD’s students every day,” said Lewis Gissel, Executive Vice President of the Houston Region. “As local alumni and active members of this community, Luis Bonilla and I understand firsthand the vital role these professionals play in shaping our neighborhoods. Hosting this appreciation breakfast is a meaningful way for us to give back and live out our commitment to being the people you know and trust in banking.”
Gissel, who serves on the SBISD Bond Oversight Committee, continues to lead TRB’s efforts in finding new ways to support the district, ensuring the partnership remains impactful and beneficial for both the bank and the community.

More Than Banking—A Commitment to Community
TRB in Houston counts its success in relationships, not transactions. For Bonilla and the Memorial branch team, the SBISD partnership is not only about providing financial services. It’s about investing in the people—and the future—of the community and creating opportunities to serve outside of banking transactions. Whether through events like this breakfast, volunteer efforts, or financial education, the Memorial team is proud to be a trusted partner for SBISD and the Houston community.
